Main characters Celia and Marco are raised from childhood for one purpose: to defeat each other in a mysterious magician's duel that neither truly understands. The venue for the years-long battle is called the Circus of Dreams, a circus that appears suddenly and is only open at night. Morgenstern's writing was wonderful, and her story truly unique.

Bonobo Handshake is amazing!! This book will appeal to a varied group of readers as it simultaneously describes our fascinating evolutionary relation, Bonobo chimps, as well as the devastating war and political situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It illustrates the power of the determination to live that is within all of us, and how humans and bonobos aren't very different after all.
